Adhesive for Styrofoam
Styrofoam adhesive is a very specific type of glue that is used for many hobbies because Styrofoam glue is designed with a specific chemical combination that allows the Styrofoam to bond more completely with whatever it is being attached to. This is why it is so effective even when being glued to other objects like cardboard, wood, or other sheets of Styrofoam. While at first glance this might seem like a really odd specialty epoxy, Styrofoam glue is very useful for a wide array of hobbies and projects. Certain types of model rockets can require this to get all the pieces melded together. Nothing stinks more than spending $20 on a rocket engine only to have the rocket fall apart in mid-air. No second launches when the parachute fails to deploy.
There are also many school projects that might require a very good Styrofoam adhesive or epoxy of some kind. From model homes, bridges, or viking ships - sometimes carving up Styrofoam is the best way to go to get the models and the effect that you want. If you have a choice between plain old Elmer's white or between an actual designed Styrofoam epoxy, you'd be an idiot not to take the Styrofoam glue over the same old grade school white stuff. There's no question that for projects like those mentioned above, the specialty hobby glue is definitely the better choice out of the two.
There are a couple of major companies who make this material, and UHU is probably the best known of all of them. 3M might be a close second. These two companies are definitely the "coke and pepsi" of the Styrofoam adhesive market. So just remember the next time that you have a major project that involves adhering Styrofoam that a truly good Styrofoam glue is something that will make your life a whole heck of a lot easier.
